Unfortunately, we’re having to delay the launch of the Greatest Good Game for a week or so. This is due to the major server issue we had during the week that made us loose 24 hours worth of work, as discussed in this post. From further reviewing the ‘lost work’, we realised that between the Village Memberships (which we were planning to launch the same day) and the Game, the Game was the worst hit. Meaning, we are basically faced with no other choice than having to postpone the Game launch.
The biggest hold up is having to ‘reprogramme’ the website to be able to track your achievements and rewards for the game itself. We are also having to reprogramme the relevant courses too, which are both remarkably huge tasks to do in themselves. Then tying these together to make the awarding of the badges to actually work.
Thankfully, we didn’t lose the actual material and content that made up these, but it’s just physically impossible to re-populate the material to connect with the functionality all for the planned launch day.
This is beyond frustrating, as this is truly a passion project that should bring amazing benefits to the Village with their spiritual development and general well-being. However, on the positive side, the overall design (how it works) of the game has been done, and it’s just the time-consuming part of re-uploading and re-connecting the functionality.
It’s amazingly disappointing – the air has been many shades of blue since the loss happened. But we have many positives to work with. More updates will be coming once the core of the Game has been rebuilt. Thank you for your understanding.
